About Us

Damian E. Davenport, Esq. founded Davenport Law in 2003. His passion to assist couples in building their family through assisted reproductive technology comes from his and his wife’s five year personal struggle with infertility. In 2005, Damian discovered a need in Utah for legal services in the area of third-party reproduction. Since then, Damian has represented hundreds of domestic and international couples in helping them realize their dreams of becoming parents. Davenport Law now focuses exclusively in the area of assisted reproductive law.

Damian is a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys (AAAA), a credentialed professional organization dedicated to the advancement of best legal practices in the area of adoption and assisted reproduction. He is also an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and its Legal Professionals Group, as well as the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section Committee on Assisted Reproduction Technologies.

Locally, Damian serves as an Advisory Board member of the Utah Infertility Resource Center (UIRC). He has testified before the Utah Legislature on issues related to Utah’s Gestational Agreement statute, and has also presented to Utah hospitals, fertility clinics, Utah’s Office of Vital Records, and Utah State Bar on numerous topics related to assisted reproduction.

In 2016, Damian represented clients in connection with an appeal of Utah’s Gestational Agreement statute. This led to the 2019 Utah Supreme Court’s unanimous decision, In re Gestational Agreement N.T.B., J.G.M., D.B. and G.M., 2019 UT 40, granting same-sex couples the same benefits and protections afforded to heterosexual couples under Utah’s Gestational Agreement statute.
